Basketball – PE/HPE

Last week the year 5/6s and year 7/8s participated in the Interschool basketball team to represent our school. I’ve learnt that having good teamwork helped us beat the teams we won, Also having sportsmanship: Eg, by helping/encouraging your teammates to do their best, I learnt that passing shooting even though you don’t make it, at least you still tried to shoot it and be a good help to your team.

I enjoyed going to the interschool because we won against Sylvia Park and by default against Tamaki Primary because they didn’t show up we tried our best to win and we need to work on our communication with each other.

American Football

I Revised AFL throwing.

I first learnt how to hold a AFL ball. To hold a football you need your finger that is next to your pinky. Then hold the ball with your dominant and you put your fingers on the 3 lace down.

First we played a game of piggy in the middle while revising throwing. In the game there will be one person in the middle. The person in the middle has to try and catch the ball or get the ball from the other people that were throwing the ball to eachother. If the person with the ball does a bad throw and the person in the middle gets the ball that means they get into the middle.

Next we played another which is piggy in the middle. Everyone gets in a circle and there are three taggers. If the taggers catch the ball the person that throw the ball is in the middle. And if you have the ball you can’t throw the ball to the person next to you.

I enjoyed this acitivity because I got to revise throwing. I need to improve on throwing the ball properly. I did well on catching.

T-Ball Skills

First we learned about different t-ball  skills. The skills we learned were hitting, running, and throwing.

Then, We practised throwing by playing ball rain.

Next, we practised running between the bases, by having a relay race.

Lastly, we practised hitting. We hit the ball on the tee.

I enjoyed throwing the ball. I did well on catching the ball. I need to improve on hitting the ball.
