Place Value

LI: To explore numbers (Written, Expanded, Numerals)

To make this DLO, me and my partner first learned about what Place Value is, and then explain it in our own words. Place Value is a simple strategy for solving addition problems. Place Value is placed in a category of ones, tens, hundreds, thousands, ten thousands, hundreds thousands, etc.

Algorithm – Maths !

Algorithm is a Maths strategy that makes a better understanding of somthing in Maths.

In this task I explained what algorithm is, how to do algorithm and what algorithm is used for. In my DLO I wrote

What is Algorithm?  Algorithm is a type of maths strategy that you can use in: Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication and Division.

For example “addition’

             2 7 0

          + 1 8 9

          4  5  9

How to do algorithm?  algorithm is adding the numbers on the top and adding them up to the bottom if a number is more then 9 e.g “12” we would add a 1 on the top of the next number.

What is algorithm used for?: Algorithm is used as a math strategy to work out math equations, for addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. This helps make the math equation make you think different and help you understand better.

I enjoyed this task because I got to explain what what algorithm is, how to do algorithm and what algorithm is used for.

Figure It Out

This week we leared about Gala, a gala is when you make stuff and people buy it and you raise money in tokens.

We worked in partner’s but each slide we had to witch partner but finished it together one of our task was mostly adition problems it was quite easy to do we all had to do this for maths. the first questions needs a partner and each word problem is a new partner.

First we had to pick the best day to have the gala at Te Rata school where they are goin to money from the kids that bought tokens, and we picked the day on a saturday the 22 of november, In the question there is days where teachers are gone and students are gone. For this question I thought best answer would be 22/2023/11.

Next we had to do a hold a vote graph, for what people would vote for new stuff/equipment like: Books for library, new kapa haka uniform, compute equipment, sports equipment, trip to wellington. most of Te Rata school chose library books, and we also did it with our class and most people trip to wellington.

Lastly I did that task called is there room, in this question it asked is there enough space for the gala to be set on the field it was because its big. I had to write how much meters the field was for the whole school.

I enjoyed this task because it was challenging to solve a bit.

I need to improve on not using different methods to solve equations.

I was good at writing the answers.

Figure It Out

We had to do these figure it out slides.

First we had to do the first slide where we had to pick a staurday for the school gala, we had to make it the best day to

do it from the calendar. the first questions needs a partner and each word problem is a new partner.

Next I did the first question, the question was “What was the best date for the school gala?” In the question there is days where teachers are gone and students are gone. For this question I thought best answer would be 22/2023/11.

Lastly I bloged my task.

I enjoyed this task because it was challenging to solve a bit.

I need to improve on not using different methods to solve equations.

I was good at writing the answers.

Graphs For School Gala

For our school gala we have to make pencil cases and bookmarks.

First I had look for a question then I had to got a paper then I had to write the question as my title for my graph. Things you need to make a graph, title scale cattegories y axis and x axis.

Next on the side I put numbers,Under the bottom I had to put yes, no, maybe.

Lastly, the question was what year are you? there was 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8. Then made the boxes and then underneath i put the year groups and it was most people are year 5 and half and half of year 6 and 4.

Fractions Of A Number

Fractions of a number, we had to do a task of fractions of a number of where there is a fraction

example: 1/4 of 20 we wrote it on a whiteboard and put 4 circles and then put one dot in each one counting up to 20 so each circle has 5 in each circle.

Next I did another one of 2/3 of 9, the bottom number (3) has to be the number of circles still counting up to nine putting one dot each. eaqualing 6

Lastly I did 4/5 of 40 i put the top number (4) circles and counted up to 40 puting one dot each.

Maps – Maths

Today I did a task where I had to use co-ordinates with numbers and letters we had to find Emu, Asian Elephant, Exit/Entry, Tiger and Te puna cafe.

First we had to find Emu, Asian Elephant, Exit/Entry, Tiger and Te puna cafe, and see what number its on and what letter its on. Emu B5, Asian Elepant K3, Exit/Entry G1, Tiger D4, Te puna cafe F5.

Next It said: “You’re at the Asian Elephants, you travel West 400m.  Where are you now? (take a screenshot and put a “x” by the place” we took a screenschot and put a X of where the Asian Elephants were and with the tigers traveling 200m north and then east 100m, and then the tasmanian devil travel east 200m and then south 300m. And each box means 100m.

Maths

We had to do place value and written algorithm.

 First I had to do place value, there were maths equations I had to answer it in split strategy. The first equations was 431 + 258? 1 + 8 = 9 30 + 50 = 80 400 + 200 = 600  600 + 80 + 9 = 689.

Next I wrote the last equation wich was 789 + 123? 9 + 3 = 12 80 + 20 = 100 500 + 200 = 700 900 + 10 + 7 = 912.

Lastly I did writen algorithim and we had to put both equations one on top and bottom and we had to add the ones from the right side wich was 5 + 6 10 but we had to only put the 0 and carry the 1 and add it to the next number and add to that number that keep doing the if its 11,12,13,14,15,16,17,18,19.

Measuring Volume

LI: To find a objects that measure cm’s

In this task I learnt how to measure the volume of each object. and to measure the length, height and width. Volume is how much space an object takes up. Measuring objects and find out the volume of each object. Don’t forget to measure the length, height and width.

I had to find objects of their measurements and write them down then writing the answer to the measurements e.g: 20 cm x 3 cm x 13 cm = 780.

A dictionary measurements 20 cm x 3 cm x 13 cm = 780

A cardboard box 23 cm x 22 cm x 23 cm = 11638

A reading box 23 cm x 14 cm x 8 cm = 2576

I enjoyed this task because I got to learn about measurements with different pbjects
